I'm wondering if maybe it was put there as an easter egg/for consistency but people read too much into it and thought it was a playable area, so they removed it from the game. I'm just wondering if there's a specific reason why they removed the landmass from all of the in-game maps, but not from the specular map. If you were to datamine the game and find textures for Isle Defino then that would be proof enough. You would need more evidence to prove it was playable then just a place on the map. Making it appear on the globe does not mean it was intended to be playable.
